Ground Control is transitioning to a new name. Introducing:

GOOD OPERATOR

TLDR:

Over the last year we have been sharpening our vision for the company that is both more focused and more ambitious. We believe businesses can be machines for freedom and wealth and want to help founders realize that goal. Forget high-growth, unprofitable moonshots. This is about sustainable, profitable, cash-flowing engines and the founders who proudly bootstrap lifestyle businesses.

We wanted a brand and a name that could tell that story, grow with us, and become a flag for a community that values 7-figures of cash flow over 9-figure paper valuations.

We feel this is that brand and the spirit of Good Operator.

Ok, so the long version…

YOU’RE DOING WHAT? WHY?

We all loved the name Ground Control because it told a specific story about who we were and how we wanted you to think about us - as that nerd in your ear crunching numbers as you navigate launches and landings.

And don’t worry, we’re still that group of nerds and we’ll still be in your radio every step of the way.

But it’s time to build under a brand that both sharpens the focus of who we help while allowing us to expand the way we do it..

GOOD OPERATOR reflects a couple big changes for us.

NARROWED FOCUS

We’ve been saying for a while now that the moonshot unicorn or bust days are numbered and that what’s REALLY sexy is building and operating simple, profitable businesses worth life-changing amounts of money.

This is us putting an official bow on that transition we started ages ago. We made the decision to bet big on more founders choosing this path and the response has been overwhelming. So we’re making it official and taking it to the next level. 

By shifting our north star from a product we wanted to provide to an outcome we want to deliver we’ve been able to better shape our offerings and drive more impact. 

We’re not shy about saying simply: we want to help build 1000 sellable businesses.

Those businesses are profitable, sustainable, valuable, and not reliant on the founders. Sell it, run it, build another one, that is up to you. We’re just going to build the systems and tools that get you there. 

Which brings me to…

EXPANDED OFFERING

Yes, we’re still first and foremost a finance company and will continue to build on what it means to deliver “OPERATOR-FOCUSED ACCOUNTING”. 

But we’re going to expand how we meet founders wherever they’re at and deliver on that promise. That includes:

  • More standardized short-term projects called Sprints

  • More access to free support through content and workshops

ALL SYSTEMS ARE GO

If you get excited about cash flow, profit margins, and automated systems; if 7 figures of profit sounds better than 9 figures of paper valuation; and if “lifestyle business” is an aspiration instead of a condescending consolation said in an ‘aw that’s cute’ tone, then buckle up and let’s make some money.

Our clients don’t work with us because of what we do. They work with us because of who they want to become.
